Getting to Know Me More
What was the best compliment you’ve ever received?
The best compliments are the ones that come from a genuine heart. They usually involve something about my character and not my physical appearance.
When people come to you for help, what do they usually want help with?
Making a floral arrangement, decorating, finding an item that seems impossible to track down. They come to me for just about everything except cooking!
If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
I would read more. Life is so busy, and sometimes it’s hard to make time for the little things.
What’s something you’ve been meaning to try but just haven’t gotten around to it?
What’s something on your bucket list someone might not know?
I want to ride on the Maid of the Mist boat at Niagara Falls.
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning medal for?
I would have to say bargain shopping! I definitely have an eye for it!
What are some small things that make your day better?
My husband bringing McDonald’s coffee in the mornings, playful banter with my co-workers, and the joy of doing small things for others to make their day better.
How did you become a Daystar Singer?
I grew up going to the same church that Joni attended in South Carolina, so she was familiar with my singing. I’ll never forget how kind and loving she was to me as an awkward teen going through a very interesting blue eyeshadow phase. Over the years, we remained friends even though she married and moved away. When the time came to form the Daystar Singers, Joni asked me to be a part of the group and I’ve been here ever since!
What is your favorite memory as a Daystar Singer, and why?
Some of my favorite memories involve our prison ministry trips. It’s amazing to see hearts and lives change as the love of God is poured out through worship. Those moments are something I’ll always treasure.
Tell us about a time when God has been great in your life?
Moving to Texas to be part of the Daystar family is a perfect example of how great God has been in my life. Coming here was definitely a leap of faith and the beginning of one of the most rewarding journeys I’ve ever experienced. I always knew God had called me to a greater work than what I could accomplish alone, and being a part of the ministry at Daystar has given me an opportunity to expand my borders.
Growing up in Greenville, South Carolina, Leeann enjoyed singing in church throughout her childhood. At age 15, she auditioned and was accepted into an exclusive school of the arts where she received classical opera training. Later, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a Minor in Church Music from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. Throughout her college years, Leeann traveled extensively across the United States and abroad with the Lee Singers. In 1999, she moved to Texas and became part of the Daystar Staff, eventually joining the Daystar Singers.
Leeann’s heart is to see people set free and transformed through the power of praise and worship. She is a member of Heartland Family Church in Carrollton, Texas and serves within the worship and creative arts ministries. In addition to her work at Daystar and Heartland, Leeann has a passion to reach singles with a message of hope and perseverance to wait for God’s best. In June 2010, she married the love of her life, Brent. Together, they are enjoying life and looking forward to many great years to come.
